Czech Insurance Association and the intersection of cybersecurity, AI, and geopolitics

Last week in Prague, I had the privilege of speaking with the Czech Insurance Association about the intersection of cybersecurity, AI, and geopolitics — and how they are reshaping the way nations and organizations think about resilience.

In my talk, which is based on our ongoing AI-Enabled Cybercrime project with the University of California, Berkeley and Fortinet, I highlighted the following:

1. How AI is speeding up both offensive and defensive cyber operations by lowering barriers to entry while increasing the scale and speed of attacks.
2. The ways nation-states like China, Russia, and North Korea, are integrating AI into their cyber strategies, from automated disinformation to advanced intrusion techniques.
3. Why the dual-use nature of AI requires urgent attention from policymakers and executives, balancing innovation with safeguards against misuse.
4. The strategic implications: AI in cyberspace is no longer a future risk; it is already changing the balance of power today.

Prague was the right place for this discussion: a city at the crossroads of history, geopolitics, and innovation.
The discussions in the room confirmed that Europe is taking a leading role in shaping cyber norms and policies that are shaping the global technological ecosystem.
